I had actually planned on giving this painting the title 'Hope springs' because I believe that hope is a force that continuously drives us forward. But then I realized a mediocre Hollywood movie has this exact title... and so, my poetic genius quickly paled.
Seeing as how I perceive the emotions in my painting to be far removed from the sentiments represented in a romantic comedy, I decided to rename my painting (even though the movie's plot probably ends with a 'happily ever after' - thus confirming that hope does indeed spring).
Anyway. 'Nuff said. For me, this painting encompasses the light and energy that hope can generate. Which is why I've titled my artwork: J'espère (simply meaning 'I hope' in French).
